PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus which drastically reduce stain of a polygon mirror due to turbulence. SOLUTION: The optical scanner scans a photoreceptor in such a manner that an optical flux from an optical source is deflected with a polygon mirror 32, and collected as an optical spot on the photoconductive photoreceptor 15 by a scanning imaging optical system attached to an optical housing 40. It is characterized in that the scanner is provided with a highly charged electrostatic adsorption filter 51 to trap particulates or the like, which is housed in a bag-like member 52 made of a permeable sheet material, and is arranged in the optical housing 40.
