A liquid crystal display device and a fabricating method thereof are provided to remove a resin black matrix layer from a seal pattern forming portion and form a seal pattern on common electrodes, thereby preventing delamination of the black matrix layer from the seal pattern forming area. A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates(100,200) facing each other and respectively defined with a display area in the center and a non-display area at the periphery of the display area. A TFT(Thin Film Transistor) array is formed on the display area of the first substrate. A seal pattern(140) including carbon black is formed on the non-display areas of the first and second substrates. A black matrix layer(201) is formed on the non-display area of the second substrate except the seal pattern forming portion. Common electrodes(203) are formed on the front surface of the second substrate including the black matrix. Common lines are formed on the non-display area of the first substrate, correspondingly to the seal pattern. A liquid crystal layer is implanted between the first and second substrates. |
