PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric brake which can satisfy a holding request of a rotating shaft at the stop of electricity application. SOLUTION: In the electric brake 100 which comprises: the rotating shaft rotatably arranged at the brake; a hysteresis member which has a magnetic hysteresis characteristic, and rotates together with the rotating shaft; first and second magnet members which are arranged at both sides sandwiching the hysteresis member, and form a plurality of magnetic poles in the relative direction of the hysteresis member, respectively; and a drive means which relatively rotatively drives the second permanent magnet member with respect to the first permanent magnet member, the electric brake is characterized in that the drive means comprises: a drive shaft 131 which rotates together with the second permanent magnet member; an electromagnetic actuator 132 which generates torque for rotatively driving the drive shaft 131 by applying electricity; a stopper 143 which stops the drive shaft 131 at a stopper position; and an elastic member 134 which biases the drive shaft 131 in the rotative direction toward the stopper position.
