HYDROREFINING CATALYST AND HYDROREFINING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst excellent in both desulfurization characteristics and metal-removing characteristics and capable of retaining the capability over a long period of time.

SOLUTION: A hydrorefining catalyst of heavy oil has a total of pore volume more than 0.5 ml/g in a pore diameter of less than 60 nm and indicates a pore diameter distribution having a broad band in the range of the pore diameter 8-30 nm. The hydrorefining catalyst is excellent in both desulfurization characteristics and metal-removing characteristics and is able to retain the capability over a long period of time. By using this catalyst to a hydrorefining apparatus having a plurality of catalyst layers, a stable operation can be performed at a high temperature than ever before without reducing desulfurization capability and this makes the metal-removing characteristics improved.
