PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a checking device capable of stably sucking and conveying a chip type electronic component such as a solid-state electrolytic capacitor with a relatively large outer form and a great mass. SOLUTION: A checking device for a chip type electronic component comprises: first and second conveyance drums 1, 2 for conveying a chip type electronic component 3 while holding it on outer peripheral surfaces, respectively; a delivery mechanism 4 for delivering the chip type electronic component 3 from the first conveyance drum 1 to the second conveyance drum 2; and checking means 5, 6 for performing checks on a conveyance route, wherein each of the first and second conveyance drums 1, 2 includes, in its outer periphery, a plurality of suction holding holes 9 for sucking and holding the chip type electronic component 3, and a cavity 11a communicating and linking all the plurality of suction holding holes 9 and a pressure reducing source and within the cavity 11a. A suction releasing means 12 is provided which is approximately coaxial with the suction holding holes 9, and is appropriately communicated and linked with a pressurizing source.
