Polar group-containing organopolysiloxanes with functional hydroxycarbamate groups. Polar group-containing organopolysiloxanes derived from units of formula B aR bSiO [{4-(a+b)}/2] (I). R : 1-30C hydrocarbyl, optionally with one or more separate oxygen atoms; B : R 1>'NR 2>C(O)OR 3>OH (II); R 1>' : 1-100C hydrocarbylene, optionally with in-chain O atoms or nitrogen-containing groups selected from NH, NR 4> and N(COOR 3>OH), with at least one group B per molecule; R 2>, R 4>H or 1-30C hydrocarbyl; R 3>1-150C hydrocarbylene, substituted with OH group(s) and/or containing in-chain O atom(s); a : 0 or 1; b : 0, 1 or 2; and (a+b) : not more than 3. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of these organopolysiloxanes by reacting polysiloxanes (1) containing Si-linked primary and/or secondary amino groups (A) and derived from units of formula A aR bSiO [{4-(a+b)}/2] (IV), with cyclic carbonates (2) of formula (VI).
