A multi functional pneumatic mattress designed to be placed over a conventional bed. It consists of cells, which can be programmed to inflate and deflate selectively. The inflation and deflation of the cells in a pre-determined pattern will assist the physically disabled person to turn and receive a range of treatments/therapies unaided by a carer or nurse. There are 72 cells which are controlled and act independently. They are mounted on a permanently inflated chassis. The device is designed to be fitted over an existing standard mattress or bed frame in the home or hospital. The cells will rise and fall milimetrically and can be programmed to facilitate 'standard' therapeutic regimes such as rotation and alternating therapy and Fowler positions or the particular idiosyncratic needs of an individual patient. The embodiment allows for self control by the patient. |
