PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite device in which convenience is improved by sufficiently dealing with various ways of use for a user. SOLUTION: The composite device 1 is capable of switching an external connecting terminal 11 provided in a main body either to an input terminal or to an output terminal. While a video image of a program being played by a DVD processing section 4 is displayed on a display section 5 in the case that the external connecting terminal 11 is switched to the output terminal, a digital audio signal read from a DVD and (analog) audio signals of 2ch are outputted from the external connecting terminal. Therefore, the user is capable of viewing the program recorded on the recording medium using a surround system connected as external equipment, e.g., surround system of 5.1ch and also capable of viewing the program with stereo sounds of 2ch.
