PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for eliminating time and labor necessary for a user desiring registration of the biological information of the user to repeat registration trial for searching registration spare, as a technology for registering the biological information of the user. SOLUTION: This authentication device for authenticating a user is configured to acquire the biological information of the user, and to authenticate the user by collating it with prestored registration biological information. When the registration of the biological information is impossible due to the excess of a capacity, registration failure information is stored so as to be associated with an unregistered user who holds the biological information to be registered, and when any spare is generated in the capacity, the unregistered user with which the registration failure information is associated is notified that it is possible to register the biological information.
