PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection tool easily maintainable and facilitating an operation for fitting to the cut opening end of a gas pipe and an operation for connecting a suction hose to a communication pipe and a method of using the connection tool. SOLUTION: This connection tool 1 comprises a cover body 10 having a curved surface part 11 on which a protruded rotationally symmetric surface is formed and closing the opening end 82 when the curved surface part 11 abuts, airtight, on the peripheral edge part 82a of the opening end 82 of the gas pipe 80 and a fixing means 40 for fixing the cover body 10 which closes the opening end 82 by the curved surface part 11 to the gas pipe 80. The fixing means 40 comprises fixing plates 43 circumferentially disposed on the outer peripheral surface of the gas pipe 80 on the upstream side more than the opening end 82 and having a first connection part 44, a tension band member 50 which is wrapped around the fixing plates 43 disposed on the outer peripheral surface of the gas pipe 80 and the length of which can be adjusted, a second connection part 41 circumferentially installed on the outer end of the cover body 10, and tensile members which connects the first connection part 44 to the second connection part 42 and the length of which can be adjusted.
