PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material hand free from failures in clamping a workpiece of a panel material and failures in releasing the workpiece. SOLUTION: The material hand includes a boss 2 protrusively provided by a coaxial core at the lower end of a cylinder 1, a pin 3 protruding from an apical surface of the boss 2 and a clamping claw 3a which is provided on a side of the pin 3 so that it can stand/fall and stands/falls by an advance/retreat of a piston rod of the cylinder 1, and inserts the pin 3 into a hole bored on a workpiece W, clamps the workpiece by the clamping claw 3a and the apical surface of the boss 2, and carries it. The material hand includes a workpiece-confirming means consisting of a workpiece-confirming tube 4 fitted with the outer periphery of the boss 2 slidably in the axial direction of the boss 2 and coming into contact with the workpiece W, a workpiece-confirming sensor 8 mounted on the cylinder 1, and a sensor dog 10 having one end attached to the tube 4 and the other end extending in the vicinity of the sensor 8 and also serving as an interlocking bar 9 for transmitting the movement of the tube 4 in contact with the workpiece W to the sensor 8.
