摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide synthetic paper having both writability and printability equivalent to or greater than those of conventional synthetic paper, having moderate firmness like natural paper, and readily biodegradable even in the natural environment. SOLUTION: The synthetic paper comprises a filler and a biodegradable resin comprising 50-95 pts.mass of polylactic acid and 50-5 pts.mass of a biodegradable polyester resin other than the polylactic acid. The synthetic paper is characterized in that resin layer and filler layer are laminarly oriented along the planar direction of the paper and the thickness of the filler layer is 10μm or less in the perpendicular direction of the paper. A method for producing the synthetic paper comprises the following process: The above biodegradable resin and the filler 0.1-0.45 g/cc in apparent specific gravity and 1-8μm in average particle size are subjected to melt kneading together to make sheet or film, which is then at least uniaxially oriented.
