PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller switch having power-saving function. SOLUTION: The roller switch has a switch 10, a roller 11, a light emission part 12, and a light receiving part 13. The roller 11 contacts to the switch 10. The handle 110 of the roller 11 has at least one hole 111. When a card is inserted, the card comes in contact to the frame 112 of the roller 11, and the switch 10 is pressed for energization. The roller 11 starts to rotate when the card is pressed. The light emission part 12 is placed in one side of the roller 11 to emit a light beam 15. The light receiving part 13 placed in the another edge of the roller 11 receives the light beam 15 through the hole 111 to transmit a pulsed signal 16.
