PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the picture display failure when output signals from various HDMI signal output apparatus are temporarily in an irregular condition. SOLUTION: The television receiver 1 connected to an HDMI supporting external apparatus 2 receives digital signals inputted from the HDMI supporting external apparatus 2 and detects the signal condition by an HDMI signal processor 3, and a microcomputer 6 adaptively controls the HDMI signal processor 3, an input signal processor 4 and a picture signal processor 5. When signals from the HDMI supporting external apparatus 2 become transiently in an irregular signal condition, it executes the re-calculation of the frame rate conversion process for the picture signal processor 5, even if recovering a regular condition.
