PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fusion splicing machine that can comprehend the state of progress of a reinforcing process and that can perform efficiently and with proper timing fusion splicing and reinforcement preparation of an optical fiber to be reinforced next, in concurrently carrying out the fusion splicing and the reinforcing process. SOLUTION: The fusion splicing machine includes a fusion splicing device for abutting and welding optical fiber ends and a reinforcing device for reinforcing the fusion-spliced optical fibers by covering with a reinforcing sleeve. A display device for monitoring the state of fusion splicing is designed to have a display function for displaying the state of progress of the reinforcing process, wherein the state of progress of the reinforcing process is displayed by heating-up, heat-keeping, and cooling-down information or displayed by time information or temperature information.
