PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an originator to grasp the context of a receiver and to choose whether a receiver's portable telephone is released from a manner mode or not after the context of the receiver is grasped by the originator. SOLUTION: A portable telephone, which is equipped with a control means (4, 12, and 13) that sets up a manner mode, is provided with a context detection unit (20) which detects its context and a context sending means (4, 3, 2, and 1) which transmits information indicating the detected context to an originator's portable telephone when the receiver's portable telephone receives a call in a state wherein it is set up in a manner mode. The control means (4, 12, and 13) cancels a manner mode according to the fact that an operation for canceling a manner mode is performed from the originator's portable telephone after the context sending means (4, 3, 2, and 1) has transmitted information indicating the detected context to the originator's portable telephone.
