<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the numerical aperture in a liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display panel, having a first substrate, a second substrate; and a liquid crysta interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first substrate has active elements, a first insulating layer formed on a layer higher than the active elements, first electrodes arranged on a layer higher than the first insulating layer, a second insulating layer arranged on a layer higher than the first electrodes, and pixel electrodes, arranged on a layer higher than the second insulating layer. The liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of sub-pixels, each having a transmissive section and a reflective section, the pixel electrode is shared by the transmissive section and the reflective section in common, the first electrode corresponding to the transmissive section and that corresponding to the reflective section are respectively independent, and the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the active element via a contact hole, formed in a gap between the first electrodes corresponding to the transmissive and reflective sections, which are respectively independent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
