PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting defect of an original printing plate of a lithographic printing plate which can easily and rapidly detect the defect on manufacturing even on an on-machine type original printing plate of the lithographic printing plate. SOLUTION: The method for inspecting the defect of the original printing plate of the lithographic printing plate which has an image recording layer on a substrate and can be developed on a machine by feeding a printing ink and/or a dampening water, is characterized by having a heating process for heating the original printing plate of the lithographic printing plate, a developing process for developing the heated original printing plate of the lithographic printing plate without mounting it on a printing machine, and a defect detecting process for detecting a part in which the image is not formed on the image recording layer of the developed original printing plate of the lithographic printing plate.
