PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive compact optical scanner which can obtain a high-quality image without any color smear at a high speed and is less in power consumption, and to provide an image-forming apparatus using the optical scanner. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is provided with a plurality of light-emitting elements 11, 12, 13, and 14 which emit light beams toward different scanned faces located at a plurality of stages in the subscanning direction, a plurality of coupling lenses 21, 22, 23, and 24 which couple the light beams emitted from the plurality of ight-emitting elements with a subsequent optical system, a light deflector 4 which deflects and scans respective light beams, a scanning and focusing elements 51, 52, 53, and 54 which converge the plurality of light beams emitted from the light deflector onto the scanned faces, located in correspondence with the respective light beams. Each light beam, emitted from each light emitting element and enters into the light deflector 4, is located substantially on a straight line, and the plurality of light-emitting elements 11, 12, 13, and 14 and the coupling lenses 21, 22, 23, and 24 are fixed on the same member 110.
