PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant growth-inhibiting material containing a plant growth-inhibiting material extracted from leaves of a cypress family as an essential constituent component. SOLUTION: The plant growth-inhibiting material having extremely high plant growth-inhibiting activities can be obtained by subjecting an extract extracted from the leaves of the cypress family with hexane or the like to silica gel chromatography, and eluting the component with a mixed solvent of the hexane and ethyl acetate.
