COMPOSITE ARTICLE, A PROCESS FOR ITS MANUFACTURE AND USE

The invention relates to a composite article comprising a metal sheet of at least 0.25 mm thickness and at least two unidirectional sheets, with the metal in the metal sheet having a melting point of at least 350°C, whereby the unidirectional sheets comprise at least 2 mono-layers of unidirectional oriented high performance fibers, with the direction of the said fibers in a mono-layer is at an angle a to the direction of the fibers in an adjacent mono-layer. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the manufacture of a composite article and the use of the composite article in buildings and constructions, vehicles, and ballistic applications, especially under conditions of heat and fire.
