PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aluminum nitride powder which has an oxygen content extremely lower than that of the conventional one and exhibits excellent and high thermal conductivity when used as a filler of a heat radiating member and to provide a resin composition using the aluminum nitride powder. SOLUTION: The aluminum nitride powder is obtained by heating a hollow aluminum nitride particle at 1,900-2,200°C in a reducing atmosphere containing nitrogen and has≤0.2 mass% oxygen content and 10-50μm average particle size.
