PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining the grinding quality of a cap tip, which accurately and easily checks the grinding quality of the cap tip used for spot welding. SOLUTION: Holes 3 for receiving the tips of cap tips 20 are formed on a base plate 1, and reference support plates 10 for supporting the tips of the cap tips are arranged in the sides opposite to the receiving sides of the holes 3. There are provided area sensors 4, which photograph the shapes of the tips of the cap tips in a state that the ground tips of the cap tips are brought into contact with the reference support plates 10, and a shape determining device 5, which analyzes the images picked up by the area sensors 4 and determines whether or not the shapes of the tips of the cap tips are acceptable. Further, there are provided color sensors 6, which recognize the colors of the ground tips of the cap tips, and a grinding-allowance determining device 7, which determines whether or not the grinding-allowances are acceptable from the colors recognized by the color sensors 6.
