PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully generate ultrasonic waves that become identical in direction, as the thickness direction of a material to be inspected. SOLUTION: This device 1 for electromagnetic ultrasonic inspection is constituted so as to generate ultrasonic waves in the material 2 to be inspected using electromagnetic force to detect the state of the material 2 to be inspected from the ultrasonic waves which is generated in the material 2 to be inspected. The device 1 has: a magnetic field generating part 3 for generating a magnetic field, which has lines of magnetic force 7 substantially parallel with the surface of the material 2 to be inspected and traveling toward the direction which is substantially identical to the width direction of the material 2 to be inspected, in the long material 2 to be inspected, having a rectangular cross section; and an ultrasonic wave generating part 4 for generating a current in the surface of the material 2 to be inspected that is substantially parallel to the lines of the magnetic force 7, to form the ultrasonic waves caused by the action with the magnetic field generated in the magnetic field generating part 3.
