PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide locking device for a press, wherein the number of members and the number of parts are reduced to be able to make compact, production cost can be reduced, slide locking due to malfunction is not caused during a press operation, and durability can be secured. SOLUTION: A case member is mounted with a working member which has an engagement claw fittable to/detachable from a tooth part of a gear member, on the tip part, and is movable between a progress position and a retreat position at which the engagement claw is engaged with the gear member; wherein a plurality of steel balls which are held on the cylindrical part of the working member, a regulating member which is inserted into the cylindrical part of the working member, a plurality of first and second engagement recessed parts formed at the case member, and a plurality of third engagement recessed parts formed at the regulating member are arranged so as to be able to lock the working member at the progress position and the retreat position via them, and a plurality of recessed grooves, which are connected to the plurality of third engagement recessed parts and allow the steel balls to be in arc contact, are formed at the parts of the regulating member with which the steel balls come in contact in the locked state.
