<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of preventing a memory card from being inserted or removed when power is on. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is provided with a housing 2 having a card storage concave part 24 on its bottom with contacts 11a for card exposed. In the housing 2, a card holding-down member 5 is held so as to slide between the closed position which prevents falling off of an SIM card C from the card storage concave part 24, and the open position in which the card storage concave part 24 is made open, sandwiching the SIM card C that serves as a memory card stored in the card storage concave part 24 with its terminal contacting the contacts 11a for card, between the bottom of the card storage concave part 24 and itself. The card holding-down member 5 has a cover part 52 that covers a part of a receptacle 4 for battery to which a battery is connected in the open position in order to prevent the connection of a battery.
