<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a similarity evaluation device and program, capable of improving reliability of a similarity evaluation result by considering characteristics of a whole Japanese sentence to be compared. <P>SOLUTION: A tree structure generation part 2 syntactically analyzes an input Japanese sentence and a target Japanese sentence and generates respective tree structures. A partial structure generation part 3 generates partial structures from the tree structures, respectively. A partial structure evaluation part 4 calculates a syntactic similarity between the partial structures and a word similarity between the partial structures, and calculates a similarity between the partial structures based on the syntactic similarity and the word similarity.
