PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and an image processing method by which an amount of power consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: An MFP (Multi Function Peripheral) has: first-third HDDs which store data, wherein the first-third HDDs have storage capacities different from one another; a writing means for writing accepted data to one of the first-third HDDs; mode switching parts which switch operation modes to any of a normal mode, a standby mode and a sleep mode in which loads to be driven are different; and drive control parts which control drive of each of the first-third HDDs, wherein the drive control parts include selection means (S32, S37) for selecting one predetermined storage device corresponding to the switched operation mode among the first-third HDDs and drive control means (S36, S42, S47) for driving the selected storage device (S33, S39, S44) to stop storage devices driven by except the driven storage device.
