PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a solid-state image pickup device, it is difficult to match relation between image height of a pixel array region and an optimum incident angle with optical incident characteristics of a camera lens and then image degradation due to sensitivity shading occurs. SOLUTION: Microlenses are arranged two-dimensionally in row and column directions. They are arranged so that each side of the arranged region may draw a curve convex toward the center of the image array region from a segment connecting tops of the arranged region, namely a distance A<SB>H</SB>(A<SB>V</SB>) between centers of a pair of opposite sides of the arranged region is designed to be smaller than a distance B<SB>H</SB>(B<SB>V</SB>) between tops of the arranged region.
