A method for making communication under back ground music in a portable terminal is provided to prevent a user to search for and reproduce a corresponding music file or listen to the music file from the first portion of the music file because the music file is automatically reproduced after communication is made in the process of reproducing the music file. A user connects to a call and switches to a communication mode if a user requests call-origination or connection of an incoming call while a music file is being reproduced(S135). The level size of an audio sound is regulated when the switching to the communication mode exists(S140). Voice data are mixed with an audio sound having a regulated level size if the voice data are received from the other party(S150). Voice data of a user is mixed to an audio sound having a regulated audio sound if the voice data are input to a micro-phone of the portable terminal, so that the voice data are transmitted to the other party(S170).
