An imaging forming apparatus having mechanism for reducing pressing force between an image bearing member and a transferring member is provided to improve the workability in setting up a main body of the apparatus and ensure the initialization of the transferring member. An image forming apparatus comprises the followings: a support which is configured to support a cartridge which is detachably attached to a main body of the image forming apparatus and includes a rotatable image bearing member configured to bear a toner image; and a transferring member(24a,24b,67) which is configured to transfer the toner image from the image bearing member and is disposed in the main body and is movable between a first position and a second position in the main body.
