<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and quickly execute diagnosis as to the possibility of realizing a wide band using a basic mode of a multimode optical transmission path. <P>SOLUTION: A laser beam of which the high-frequency wave is amplitude-modulated, and of which only the basic mode is excited in an incident end face of the measured multimode optical transmission path is introduced into the measured multimode optical transmission path. Only the basic mode is taken out out of the laser beams reached to the other end of the measured multimode optical transmission path to be converted into an electric signal, a transmitted high-frequency component of electric power is measured by a spectral analyzer to measure a frequency characteristic and a band of the measured multimode optical transmission path, and the propriety of realizing the wide band area using basic mode excitation is diagnosed when constructing a fiber transmission system using the measured multimode optical transmission path. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
