The system (1) has a mechanical brake (6) and electrical brakes, where the electrical brakes are activated and subsequently the mechanical brake is activated based on the operation of a brake operating device (8) e.g. brake pedal. A hybrid-control device (2) is provided for activating the electrical brakes, and a position sensor is provided for detecting the operation of the operating device. The mechanical brake is equipped with a brake booster, and the electrical brakes are operated in two operating modes.
