Hard metal wear protection layers for substrates made of titanium or titanium aluminium alloys

Layer structure including a substrate with a solder layer on one side which is coated with a hard material layer, the thickness of the solder layer is 0.5-500 micron, and this layer consists mostly of an element selected from:Cu, Ag, or Al or mixtures of these or their alloys. The hard material layer can be tungsten carbide. The hard material layer can carry a coating of sliding layer, e.g. selected from CrN, TiB2, MoS2 or TiBN. An independent claim is included for a method of producing the layer structure.
