994,042. Applying a " velvet-like " finish to foam plastics; laminates and laminating. AGRICOLA REG. TRUST. Dec. 18, 1962 [Dec. 18, 1961], No. 47821/62. Headings B5A and B5N. A web A of foamed polyurethane has one surface heated by hot air from nozzle 15 prior to being pressed by cold rolls 11, 12, which gives the upper surface a " velvet-like " finish. Simultaneously the lower surface of web A is heat treated and/or given a support layer in the form of a web B. This heating is by infrared heaters or gas flames and/or by contact with heated drum 10. Drum 10 melts material from web A which runs down to form a layer B 1 on web B, rolls 11, 12 then bonding webs A, B together. Screen 17 deflects hot air from roll 11. Web B may be a plastics foil, nap or woven fabric, paper, board, cork, leather or linoleum. |
