APPARATUS, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD, FOR GENERATING AN ALERT TO NOTIFY EMERGENCY PERSONNEL OF A VEHICULAR EMERGENCY

An apparatus for creating an alarm to notify emergency personnel of a vehicular emergency and an associated method are provided to enable a vehicle to report automatically its own vehicular emergency through a mobile station located in the vicinity of the vehicle in an emergency. A vehicle-mounted device comprises a paired transceiver detection initiation detector and a local transceiver(36). The paired transceiver detection initiation detector creates a paired transceiver search command in response to the generation of a vehicle starting event. The local transceiver(36) receives the paired transceiver search command, and executes paired transceiver searching in response to the paired transceiver search command. The local transceiver(36) receives an indicia associated with a vehicle, in which the local transceiver(36) is installed. The local transceiver(36) receives an indication about the occurrence of a vehicular emergency, and reports the vehicular emergency in response to the indication.
