A plasma display apparatus is provided to enhance image quality by improving a grayness using a difference of light amounts in successive grayness levels. A plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel(100) and a gray level setting unit(104). The plasma display panel displays images using a plasma discharge. The gray level setting unit sets a gray level, which is used for displaying the images by using a difference of light amounts in successive three or more grayness levels. When the successive three or more grayness levels include two or more grayness having the same light amounts and different weighted values, the gray level is set by using an average grayness difference of light amounts of the successive three or more grayness levels.
