PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe end rustproofing method for allowing easy piping work at a site without producing a slight gap all over the inner peripheral face of a pipe end, and to provide a rustproofing tool to be used for the same. SOLUTION: The hollow pipe end rustproofing method comprises a pipe cutting step of cutting a hollow pipe, a rubber member mounting step of inserting into the end of the cut hollow pipe a large diameter portion of a stepped hollow rubber member of a thermally contractive synthetic rubber whose small diameter portion has an inner diameter formed almost equal to or somewhat larger than the inner diameter of the hollow pipe and whose large diameter portion has an inner diameter set larger than the outer diameter of the hollow pipe, an inner diameter portion inserting step of reversing the small diameter portion of the stepped rubber member inserted into the end of the hollow pipe and inserting it into the inner diameter portion of the hollow pipe, and a heating step for heating the large diameter portion of the rubber member mounted at the end of the hollow pipe to contract the large diameter portion into close contact with the outline of the hollow pipe.
