<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of informing a user about the necessity of the maintenance of a printer by multidimensionally evaluating the printer. <P>SOLUTION: In a step S195, a maintenance request MR is generated, wherein the necessity of the maintenance is indicated as to color indices CI, a graininess index GI, and a banding index BI of color patches C1 to C12, important at present or in future. Further, in the step S195, the printer is totally evaluated on the basis of quality indices (CI, GI, BI) of the color patches C1 to C12, important at present or in future and the necessity of the maintenance is discriminated on the basis of the evaluation. Moreover, a result of the discrimination is indicated in the maintenance request MR.
