<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and a device using wavelet transformation, restraining deterioration of image quality to highlight the contour. <P>SOLUTION: Input image data are subjected to wavelet transformation, thereby decomposing sub-band data HH, HL, LH, LL, and among the high-frequency data configuring the sub-band HH, high-frequency data of a predetermined threshold or more are extracted to obtain the coordinate position in the sub-band HH of the extracted high-frequency data. Among the low-frequency dada configuring the sub-band LL, the low-frequency data whose coordinate position in the sub-band LL is the same as the coordinate position of the extracted high-frequency data are extracted, and it is determined whether or not each of the extracted low-frequency data have a high-frequency component of a predetermined value or more. The high-frequency data in the same coordinate position as that of the low-frequency data determined not to have a high-frequency component are not amplified, and the high-frequency data in the same coordinate position as that of the low-frequency data determined to have a high-frequency component are amplified; the sub-band HH is corrected, and the corrected sub-band HH, the sub-bands HL, LH, LL are subjected to reverse-wavelet transformation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
