摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic base material for depositing an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, which withstands even a severely cryogenic cycle. <P>SOLUTION: The metallic base material for depositing the catalyst is composed of a honeycomb body obtained by layering metallic flat foil and metallic corrugated foil and a metallic outer cylinder for surrounding the outer circumference of the honeycomb body. A material constituting the outer cylinder and the honeycomb body is a Fe-Cr-Al alloy. A value A shown by (Al mass%+0.5xSi mass%) of the material constituting the outer cylinder and a value B shown by (Al mass%+0.5xSi mass%) of the foil constituting the honeycomb body satisfies the expression: (0.2xB+0.3)&le;A&le;(0.36xB+0.5).
