PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent coating agent and a transparent coating film that can prevent the occurrence of an interference fringe without impairing the stainproofing performance. SOLUTION: The transparent coating agent comprises an inorganic compound fine particle wherein the coating agent contains a phyllosilicate having a lower refractive index than that of the inorganic compound fine particle. The occurrence of an interference fringe can be prevented without impairing the stainproofing performance by blending a small amount of phyllosilicate into the coating agent. As the phyllosilicate, a smectite group clay mineral such as montmorillonite, saponite or the like and a clay mineral such as mica or the like can be used.
