<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having such a constitution that a conveyance unit for conveying a recording medium is attached to a cover body attached in an openable and closable manner to a main body frame and the conveyance unit is energized to the main body frame side with the cover body closed, the image forming apparatus providing improved operability of attaching the unit to the cover body and improved accuracy of positioning of the unit with respect to the main body frame. <P>SOLUTION: The first unit 18A having a conveyance belt 34 is provided with a lock shaft 102 slidable in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which an energizing mechanism 58 energizes the first unit 18A.
