摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element substrate capable of improving light utilization efficiency and the durability of a spatial optical modulation device and to provide a liquid crystal device, a projector and a method for manufacturing the optical element substrate. <P>SOLUTION: A microlens array substrate 31 includes a plurality of microlenses 36 which are planely arranged and each microlens 36 converges incident light into each optical axis AX. The microlenses 36 have refractive surfaces 56 to 58 superposed like three stages along the optical axis AX and the refractive surfaces 56 to 58 are arranged around the optical axis AX to be the center and gradually approached to the optical axis AX in a direction to the incident side.
