<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic sliding door control device for a vehicle, which is low in cost, and prevents a sliding door protrudable from a rear end of a chassis when the sliding door is fully opened, from making contact with an obstacle located on a rear side of the sliding door. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic sliding door control device for the vehicle has an obstacle distance detecting ultrasonic sensor 7 of an obstacle alerting device, which is arranged on a rear bumper 6 and for use when a vehicle moves backward. The ultrasonic sensor 7 detects the location of the obstacle 8 on the rear side of the vehicle and a distance between the vehicle and the obstacle, and if collision between the sliding door 5 in a fully open position and the obstacle 8 is expected, the sliding door 5 is stopped at an intermediate position at which the sliding door 5 does not protrude rearward from the rear end of the vehicle, to thereby prevent the rear door from colliding against the obstacle 8 on the rear side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
