Disclosed is a helium compressor unit which prevents the helium from being contaminated with water. Also disclosed are a zeolite filter for eliminating water impurities in helium gas as well as a helium compressor unit comprising such a zeolite filter. The invention finally relates to a method for commissioning or regenerating such a zeolite filter. Providing a zeolite filter, whose filter receptacle is designed as a pressure vessel, at the output end of the helium compressor allows slightest water impurities to be largely removed from the compressed helium gas before said water impurities can cause problems in the coolers or cold heads that are mounted downstream. Furthermore, the zeolite filter makes it possible to significantly increase the service life of the pulsed tube cooler that is operated with such a helium compressor unit. The zeolite filter encompasses a filter receptacle which is embodied as a pressure vessel and can be heated. Embodying the filter receptacle as a pressure vessel allows the zeolite filter to be used on the high-pressure side of a helium compressor unit. The disclosed zeolite filter can be regenerated by evacuating and heating the same as the zeolite filter is embodied as a heatable pressure vessel, thus making it possible to use the zeolite filter multiple times. |
