A method of joining members together, joining a second member to a first member constructed from a tubular body with hollow sections partitioned by a partition wall. The first member (1) is inserted into an insertion hole (6) formed in the second member (5).A die segment (11a) of a die (11) and a wedge segment (19a) of a mandrel (18) are placed in each hollow section (3) of the first member (1). Then, each wedge segment (19a) is inserted into a wedge hole segment (14a) of a corresponding die segment (11a) with a partition wall (4) of the first member (1) sandwiched by the wedge segments (19a, 19a). As a result, each die segment (11a) of the die (11) is moved radially outward of the first member (1). This expands that section (2a) of the first member (1) that is inserted in the insertion hole (6) and expands also portions axially both sides of the section (2b, 2b). Thus, the first member (1) and the second member (5) are joined.
