<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly generate data for a printed matter from a database system of a stand-alone computer or a computer on a network. <P>SOLUTION: Layout data is held, text data and image data which are utilized for the printed matter are inserted into the layout data and the data for printed matter is directly generated on the database side.
