PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush motor having an explosion proof structure that is of a simple structure and that can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: The motor 40 has a motor casing 42 and a rotary portion 44 retained rotatably inside the motor casing 42. The rotary portion 44 is provided with: a rotating shaft 441, rotors 442a, 442b provided at the base end side of the rotating shaft 441; and commutators 443a, 443b provided at the top end side of the rotating shaft 441. In the motor casing 42, a shaft-passing hole 423, through which the rotating shaft 441 of the rotary portion 44 passes, is formed. The rotary portion 44 is provided with a shaft-passing-hole cover portion 446, which extends in a flange shape from the outside circumference of the rotating shaft 441. This shaft-passing-hole cover portion 446, which is provided on the side closer to the commutators 443a, 443b and formed larger than the inside diameter of the shaft-passing hole 423, covers the gap between the shaft-passing hole 423 and the rotating shaft 441 according to the fluctuation of the pressure inside the motor casing 42.
