PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member suppressing abrasion of a sliding face and reducing sliding resistance while suppressing consumption of lubricating oil so as to improve durability of an engine or improve fuel economy. SOLUTION: In the sliding member (cylinder liner 2) brought into slide-contact with a mating member through the lubricating oil, a mixture part 10, wherein a hard face part 12 constituted of a surface layer part of quenched solidification structure, and recess parts 13 for oil reservoir formed in a dotted manner are mixed on its surface, is formed to a part of the sliding face.
